55 is actually a 53 station. Do not know the line weight. Joe Frost was a well known guide in the 1950's and this was a rod made to his design specifically for Taupo conditions of fairly large fish fished downstream with a fairly large lure. it was considered one of the premium rod in its time. Walker Brampton was located close to Hardy and there was some movement of craftsmen between the two firms. Measured over varnish which looked fairly consistent but a second coat had been applied. Sllow around .006. I was surprised at the inconsistency between the flats. 99" handle 1 foot upward locking reel seat.

This rod has a "Butt-loaded (progressive/slow action)" stress profile. Stress varies significantly across the rod. Some sections work much harder than others, creating a pronounced action character. Peak stress is in the optimal working range. The rod is efficiently utilizing the bamboo's strength.
