This is the ''mystery rod'' from the 1996 Grayrock gathering. Posted by Richard Tyree July 7 1996. There were 2 tips which seemed about the same so I roughly averaged the 3x2 measurements. Varnish thickness of 0.006 subtracted. The original posting has guild spacing also.

This rod has a "Tip-loaded (fast action)" stress profile. Stress varies significantly across the rod. Some sections work much harder than others, creating a pronounced action character. Peak stress is in the optimal working range. The rod is efficiently utilizing the bamboo's strength.
