Agreement

By using CaneCalc you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What CaneCalc Is

CaneCalc is a design tool for bamboo fly rods. It performs stress analysis calculations based on published methods (Garrison, Cattanach, Stetzer) to help rod builders explore and compare taper designs.

Calculation Disclaimer

This is the important one. CaneCalc's stress analysis output is provided for informational and educational purposes only. It is not professional engineering advice.

• Calculations are based on simplified mathematical models of bamboo behavior. Real-world results depend on cane quality, node spacing, glue, heat treatment, and many other variables no software can fully account for.
• Output values (stress curves, deflection, planing dimensions) are approximations. They should be used as a starting point, not a guarantee.
• Always verify critical dimensions against trusted references and your own experience before building a rod.
• CaneCalc is not liable for rods that don't perform as expected, break during use, or differ from predicted behavior.

In short: use your judgment, trust your hands, and treat the numbers as one input among many.

Your Account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. One account per person. Don't share accounts or use automated tools to create them in bulk.

Your Designs

You own the taper designs you create on CaneCalc. We don't claim any intellectual property rights over your work. When you save a design, we store it so you can access it later — that's it.

If you choose to share a design publicly, you're granting other users permission to view its data. You can revoke this at any time by making the design private again.

Acceptable Use

Don't:

• Abuse the service (excessive API calls, scraping, attempting to access other users' data)
• Use CaneCalc to distribute malware or spam
• Misrepresent your identity or impersonate others
• Reverse-engineer the service beyond what's needed for normal use

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these rules.

Limitation of Liability

CaneCalc is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do our best to keep the service accurate, available, and secure, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted access or error-free calculations.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CaneCalc and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to damages related to rod construction, material costs, or physical injury.

Service Availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue CaneCalc at any time. We don't promise permanent availability. If we ever shut down, we'll make a reasonable effort to give you time to export your data.

Termination

You can stop using CaneCalc at any time. To delete your account and data, email admin@canecalc.com. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with applicable federal and state law.
